How close is a Modern Wood Works’ product to an original unit? Our product is dimensionally the same as an original unit. We also use the same basic materials as was used in the originals. However, some of the details of the originals are different. Plywood from the 50s is different from plywood made today. The coatings used today are different also. We make our units using the best materials available today that mirror the original materials. And our unit is as close to an original as any other unit on the market today. How do I pay for the unit? And when am I billed? Modern Wood Works accepts checks, money orders and Visa/Master Card. If you choose to use a credit card, your credit card will be billed a few days prior to shipment. Custom orders may require a small down payment at order. What is the standard lead-time? Approximately four to six weeks are required for us to make your unit. Usually we are quicker, but on larger or custom units it may take this long. Can I add options in the future? It is very easy to add painted panels to most locations on an existing unit. If you buy a unit and change your mind about the colors we will happily send you more painted panels. However, it is not easy to add new drawers or dimple doors. Is it difficult to assemble my unit? We ship all storage units completely assembled. However, to reduce the cost of shipping the desks, the desktops are shipped in a separate box. The top is attached with seven screws in predrilled holes. How are units delivered? We use various shipping companies, depending upon the final destination. For deliveries to a residential address coordination between the customer and the local office is recommended. When a unit is shipped we will send you an email with all the contact information and tracking number for the unit for you to coordinate with the delivery company. Can I custom configure a unit? Modern Wood Works’ roots are as a wood working shop. We make all the wooden components in our facility and as such we can design a unit to your needs and wishes. Custom sizes and even custom colors are available options. Where is Kenner, LA? Kenner is a suburb of New Orleans. We are about 10 miles from the French Quarter and are actually just north of the airport. If you are ever visiting the city, you are welcome to stop by for a tour of our facilities.
